MADD’s Pledge To Have a Safe (and FUN) Summer!

Join us in making the summer safer for everyoneLamont High on X: "Schools out for summer! Have a safe and happy summer! #LamontLakerPride #EIPS https://t.co/gzDpYDemer" / X.  As we embrace the warmth and freedom of summer, it’s essential to remember the responsibilities we carry on the roads. This summer, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD®) is rallying supporters just like you to make a commitment to safety.  Together, we can ensure that this summer is fun, memorable and, most importantly, safe. Your commitment today can save lives tomorrow.  The Pledge:

Never drive impaired:
Always designate a sober driver, arrange for a ride, or use a rideshare app if you plan on consuming alcohol — whether you’re driving a car or piloting a boat.

Prep summer-fun snacks:
Stack your snack table with plenty of healthy options this summer! From crunchy veggies to tasty dips, having a variety of foods can slow down how quickly alcohol is absorbed, cutting the peak alcohol level in your body by about one-third.

Be a responsible host:
If you’re hosting a gathering, make sure your guests have a safe way to get home, whether it’s through a designated driver or rideshare service.

Make a groovy playlist:
Gather all your favorite tunes — from sizzling hits to cool classics — and let the music play. Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, lounging by the pool or just chilling out, a great playlist can lift everyone’s spirits and turn any gathering into a memorable bash.

Look out for others:
If you see someone about to drive under the influence, intervene and offer alternative transportation options.

Call 911:
If you suspect an impaired driver, don’t hesitate to report it to law enforcement.

Stay hydrated:
Hot summer days mean more sweating and fluid loss, so mixing heat with alcohol could spell trouble. Stay safe and hydrated to make the most of your sunny adventures!
