Experts will help answer your questions!

  • Professor Lori Holleran-Steiker, Professor of Addiction and Substance Abuse Services, from the University of Texas-Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work will provide information about adolescent brain development and consequences of substance use on brain development, importance of delay of use as well as introduce herself and what she does in the community regarding prevention
  • Steve Ross, Communication Director/Legislative Liasion, for Texans Standing Tall, the statewide non-profit coalition that works to reduce underage alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, will speak about vaping and tobacco issues.
  • Myra Constable from Mother Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will discuss “power of parenting” and how to talk to your kids about alcohol.
  • Terry Wilt from the Travis County Attorney’s Underage Drinking Prevention Program will speak in terms of the legal aspect of underage drinking.
  • Beth Hutchison from LifeWorks Peer Support Specialist program will introduce and explain the role of peer support specialists/harm reduction for those who have youth who are already engaging in substance use
