TCYSAPC Hosts May Training for Preventing Opioid Misuse Among Girls: Enhancing Clinical Practice

Although news reports detail the devastation of opioid misuse across the country, many healthcare professionals in Central Texas are unaware of the risk that adolescents, especially girls ages 10-17, face.  The FREE training will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.  CNE and CME available.

By the end of this event, participants will be able to:
• Discuss how opioid misuse is impacting adolescents (including girls);
• Describe evidence based screening tools that work best in primary care settings and with adolescents and girls, including pregnant teens;
• Explain how to implement the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment/recovery support (SBIRT) model as it relates to providing services to youth;
• Explain how to make a referral and navigate local recovery support resources
